Folkband "Green Jacket" stands for sparkling music on a compelling rhythm and with respect for Celtic tradition. This music is based on Irish/Scottish tradition with own compositions. “Green Jacket” also has a solid ‘live’ reputation!
Jigs & Reels, hornpipes, slides and polkas are varied with strong songs and ballads, where the fine vocals of Katelijne Janssen (vocals and accordion) and Jan Debrabandere (vocals /guitar) are flanked by swinging fiddle - Dirk Decombele, virtuoso Tin whistle - Fré Vandaele, highland and lowland pipes, bouzouki and percussion/bodhrun - Jerry Steyaert.
10 years GREEN JACKET - New CD ‘Away we go’
This year Green Jacket can blow out 10 candles and we are going to celebrate this with the release of a new CD : “Away we go”. This is once again a gem, with jigs and reels, slides and polkas, own compositions and, contrary to our debut CD(°2006): more songs on the setlist !

On the new CD you find traditional songs as ‘The Blackleg Miner’, ‘Company of strangers’, ‘the Bonnie Broom’, and the Scottish ‘TwaCorbies’, in a beautiful adaptation with vocals and Highland Warpipes. Lead singer Katelijne Janssen composed the song ‘The Broadclot’, a sailor’s story about a 17th century sailing boat. Moreover, Green Jacket collaborates with the 'Flandrach Dansers', combining Irish Stepdance, Scottish Highland and Country dance, with the live music by Green Jacket. Flandrach Dansers and Green Jacket can be jointly booked for a concert on this website. Green Jacket can also be booked for small stage, of for festivals (with extra percussion and bass guitar). On demand the band can be booked together with Flandrach Dansers.

Green Jacket already performed on numerous festivals: Labadoux in Ingelmunster, Dranouterfolk, M'Eire Morough festival, Zanzibal, Oostende voor Anker festival, the Festival of Folk songs in Oostduinkerke, Boombal-Rally, Doedelfestival, International Whisky festival in Leiden (Holland), International Dance festival in Terneuzen, Karolye Fete de Musique traditionelle ,Hondschoote (F), Scottish Fair in Ghent, in many Irish Pubs ( St Patrick's Day !!) , on receptions, weddings and in small parish houses.
Green Jacket can be booked as a quartet-quintet for smaller stages, or as a festival band (extra percussionist and bass player). On demand the band can be booked with Irish Stepdancers.
